Jaxson Dart’s ‘Good Luck’ Diamond Necklace Breaks During Giants Loss

NEED TO KNOW

  • Jaxson Dart’s diamond-encrusted heart necklace broke during the Giants-Vikings game on Dec. 21
  • The New York Giants quarterback previously said it’s his “good luck” charm during games
  • He got the necklace from his sister when he was in college and hasn’t played a game without it

Welp, there goes that.

And just when things were looking up for the New York Giants, quarterback Jaxson Dart’s “good luck” necklace broke mid-game during the team’s matchup with the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Dec. 21.

The diamond-encrusted, heart-adorned jewelry piece has become synonymous with the 22-year-old rookie, who’s led the Giants to their first — and only — two wins of the season after previously admitting that the necklace was a superstitious staple taken from his sister.

Things were looking alright for the Giants, who saw a huge momentum boost at the end of the first half with Minnesota looking set to go to the break with a 13-3 lead. With 17 seconds left, the Giants’ Tyler Nubin scored on a 27-yard fumble recovery to make the score 13-10 at halftime.

Then, Dart’s necklace broke toward the end of the third quarter. The chain fell to the ground, and he picked it up and threw it to the sideline, where it stayed for the remaining time in the game.

Needless to say, the Giants’ good juju took a turn for the worse.

Neither team scored in the third quarter. The fourth, however, saw three from a 30-yard field goal by Will Reichard of the Vikings with 4:15 remaining in the game, resulting in a final 16-13 win over New York.

During the live broadcast, FOX Sports analyst Jonathan Vilma even predicted the bad luck that would unfold after Dart’s necklace broke when speaking to his fellow play-by-play announcer Kenny Albert.

“You know you lose your chain, it’s over with, Kenny. You know it’s all bad from there… You’re just never the same after that,” Vilma tells Albert during the broadcast, as heard in a

Prior to the chain trauma, a game hadn’t gone by this season that the Giants quarterback hadn’t worn his diamond-encrusted necklace on the field, yet the reasoning behind his eye-catching accessory makes it even significant.

Dart, who was selected 25th overall by the Giants in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draftshared the heartwarming story behind his flashy chain when he was questioned by media about it after his first practice of rookie minicamp.
